Johann Aber was an Italian composer and flautist of German descent, living in Milan.

In 1765 he was flautist in Sammartini’s orchestra for a concert in honour of Archduke Leopold.

He was flautist in the La Scala orchestra in 1779, flute teacher at the Collegio Longone, and one of the 84 musicians whose names appear on the Act of Foundation, dated 26 March 1783, of the Pio Istituto dei Professori di Musica.

His music, all in manuscript, consists of three flute concerti and a considerable amount of chamber music, including duets, sonatas, trios and quartets for various combinations of instruments, always with flute.

These display good craftmanship, and a style that is intentionally simple.
